Being a part of the STEMarts Lab Apprenticeship Program has been a lovely opportunity. And though I’ve only been within this program for little than a month, I’ve already learned so much and I’m so excited to see what the future brings for me and my peers.
To me, STEMarts Lab is a symbol of growth within the education realm, as it represents the beautiful connection between art and science- my two favorite things. To explain a little more about this beginning, we started out with the Weebly workshops, where apprentices were able to create a website demonstrating their individual excellence and wonderful creativity. I had a lot of fun creating my website because it let me post the images and thoughts no one in my academic side of life gets to see! (My favorite picture is of me holding a parrot because that was my last day in New Mexico before I left for university, and it reminds me often to approach life playfully.) We’ve also started our Space Messengers project, where I’ve been able to explore avenues of technology I’ve never been able to learn! Overall, I expect to learn a lot in the next coming weeks, though I know for sure none of it will feel like the ‘boring’ kind of learning I’ve sometimes experienced in other academic environments. So I’m super excited to see what me and my peers create!
